2542 all in one printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My printer is around 18 months old. It originally worked perfectly when first installed, about a year ago it stopped printing wirelessly. An HP support person came onto my laptop over the internet and took 45 minutes to get it working again. I had done nothing, and now a year on it has stopped printing wirelessly again.

My Acer laptop will print through a USB cable

it will also communicate wirelessly with the printer checking ink levels etc.

I can E print wirelessly from my Samsung Tablet and Samsung mobile.

When I try to print wirelessly I get printer error message.

I didn't change anything, but I don't know about microsoft or Norton auto updates

If you have installed Norton Security recently or received any new update/upgrade patch for Norton Security, you may have to re-configure the settings for network devices afterwards.

Which version of Norton do you use? If you suspect Norton blocking the printer, please refer to our KB article & make sure that you have added the printer to the trust list:

Hi

Problem is fixed, I have Norton security and getting to the firewall configuration was slightly different wording.

Many thanks for Nortons help on this, but why did it happen?
