putting my HP laserjet 2420 on my network

I have a HP Laserjet 2420 I would like to put into my network and print from my laptop computer. I plugged the ethernet cable into the back of the printer and the other end of the ethernet cable into my wireless network router and I am not able to print from my laptop. Any idea?

I have the router Cisco Valet Plus Model # M20. My operating system is Windows 7 64-bit operating system. My laptop is Toshiba Satellite A665. The printer version is the HP laserjet 2420dn. Thanks.

Please remove the software from your laptop and use the Install Guide to install the printer on your network. This should resolve your issue.

Still not able to print from my laptop. Not seeing the printer on my network.

I did that and still not able to see the printer on my wireless router. The printer is plug into the wireless router using the ethernet cable.
