Dear HP Team,

I noticed that the "Scan to Email" feature does not work with common SMTP servers due to the missing mandatory email header field "Date". Because of the missing header, the email is declared as spam and filtered even before it is sent. This error does not occur in mass, as some SMTP server providers like Google automatically fill in the missing fields to allow the delivery. More restrictive servers refuse delivery to prevent spam and to protect the server reputation.

According to the RFC5322, section 3.6 (https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc5322.html#section-3.6) :

The only required header fields are the origination date field and
the originator address field(s). All other header fields are
syntactically optional.

And RFC5322, section 3.6.1(https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc5322.html#section-3.6.1) :

The origination date field consists of the field name "Date" followed
by a date-time specification. orig-date = "Date:" date-time CRLF The origination date specifies the date and time at which the creator of the message indicated that the message was complete and ready to enter the mail delivery system. ...

Since the date header is not implemented in the current firmware version TETONXXXXN002.2149A.00 (2021-12-02), the problems described above occurs.

I kindly ask you to fix this bug in the firmware so that your customers can use the email provider they trust.

Thank you very much

Philipp
