I have an HP Officejet 6500A Plus, and when I try to scan, I get a message saying, "The scanner is currently in use. Please wait until the current job is completed." There are no documents on the glass, nor in the automatic feeder. I have tried turning the printer off and on and unplugging it, but still getting the message.

Download and run HP Print and Scan Dr utility from link below to troubleshoot the issue.
