HP Easy Scan 1.8.1

Scanning multi-page document w/Easy Scan. Scan starts and first few pages are scanned. After the first few pages are scanned, an error message states, "Scanner reported an error. An error occurred while communicating with the scanner." Connection is fine because first few pages scan and images appear. Also, scanning document of 3 pages or less works perfectly fine. Uninstalled and reinstalled driver software and rebooted, but problem persists.

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Color LaserJet M277dw printer. I understand that you are getting error message while scanning from MAC and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

I would suggest you to make a photocopy on the printer to isolate the issue.

If the copy function also is not working then it should be a hardware issue.

Perform a Hard reset on the printer.

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle and then try making a copy.

Then uninstall the printer software and reinstall HP Easy scan again.

Click here to download the software.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.
