Laserjet 500 Color M551

Hi,

A user unplugged our HP Laserjet 500 Color M55a printer without first turning it off.  They then plugged it back in.  The printer now always has the following message displayed on the screen:

"49.38.07

Turn power off then on"

I do this and then the same error message pops-up again.  I have powered it off and on (by the power button) about 10 times now but the same error message just appears.

What can I do to resolve this issue?  Any help would be appreciated.

Disconnect the network cable and then power cycle the machine.

If the machine gets to a ready State without the error then you have a job that's halfway printed stuck somewhere in a queue and it needs to be deleted.

If you have many users printing to this printer and don't know which one cent the job then you can temporarily change the printer IP address and go through user by user changing their driverIP addresses and when the printer suddenly starts getting an error you know you found the user with the problem.

If my post resolves your issue please click the accepted as solution button under it.

Hi,

Thank you for replying to my post.  I disconnected the network cable and powercycled the machine.  I still got the same error message.  There is nothing stuck in the queue either.  Any other advice?

Hi,

The error message went away when I checked the printer this morning.  Instead, there was a menu that had options like "Continue" and "System Administrator".  I clicked on "Continue" and the following message came up:  "A disk or boot error occurred.  Clear error".  I Google searched this message and the article I found said to turn the printer off and then back on.  I did this and the original error message came back up.  I am now at a loss of what to do.  Does anyone know what my next steps to fix this error would be?  Thanks.
