Hello bbrixon

Thank you for that information, although it is not required to clean your printheads everytime you change the cartridges I do recommend doing an alignment. It is a good idea to do an alignment to calibrate the cartridges.

I see cleaning the printheads resolved your previous issue but that could be for many reasons. Depending on how often you use your printer, or leave it idle, sometimes the ink nozzles can get clogged up and require a cleaning.

I hope this was helpful, if you require more assistance please let me know.

Thanks,

HevnLgh

I am having the same problem with a relatively brand new printer.  It has never worked properly.  Anything I print, is printed WAY to the right of the page and often times off the page.  My work around was to set the printer to print 8X10 even though I have 8.5X11 paper to ensure everything was printed on the paper.  I followed this thread and tried EVERY possible solution with no luck.  I still get the exact same error: 'Alignment failed.  Cartridges are set to default quality.'  Very frustrating for a brand new printer.  Any other suggestions?

I guess I will need to plug in my trusty out of date 10 year old printer.  Hope the drivers are still available for my new computer.

Thanks so much for sharing, test 1 worked for me.

this worked for me.  Pull power and let sit for 3-5 min and then repower and rerun alignment.

I'm having this problem too. I tried unplugging the printer for a while and re-running the alignment. The alignment page that printed looks a bit better, but I'm still getting the message that it failed.

I am having 2 problems with my 7520 printer.  I installed a new Black ink cartridge and made sure it was installed properly.  I then ran a "print quality diagnostic and it showed no black on the result.  No error was showing that the cartridge was not installed properly.  I tried priniing B&W and the result was a blank page.

Second item was the "alignment failed.  Cartridge are set to default quality"

Test 3 -Semi full reset    Step  #3. - hit the up arrow 8 times.  Will say "Resets Menu",  hit ok, hit up arrow again 1 time,  hit ok again.
