We just moved our HP Photosmart Plus inkjet printer to vacuum the rug it was on and found a small black ink spot on the carpet. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to remove the spot that they know works? Calling HP 1-800-474-6836 was useless. After talking to the rep and his supervisor, All they said was that's a new one they had never heard of. Finally the supervisor said that I should use carpet cleaner. He didn't realy know. My fear is that carpet cleaner will just move it around.
I googled "removing black inkjet printer ink from carpet" and found one site with lots of posts about removing inkjet ink with bleach that seems to work if its on your hands. I'm reluctant to try bleach on the carpet. Anybody else have any ideas??
Tried to get a definitive answer from an HP product specialist who could talk to HP's ink technologist for an answer but that was useless. Guess i have to write a letter to their CEO. Don't they stand behind their products

We HAD THE SAME PROBLEM EXCEPT MY HUSBAND SPILLED SOME INKJET PRINTER INK ON AN AREA RUG. I HAVE USED A PRODUCT RECENTLY CALLED KRUD CUTTER, I BELIEVE IT CAN BE BOUGHT AT HOME DEPOT. IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL TREATMENTS AND VARIOUS STRENGTHS BECAUSE THIS IS A PRODUCT YOU DILUTE W/WATER. MY SPOT WAS ON A RUG MADE OUT OF POLYPROPOLENE. GIVE THE PRODUCT A MINUTE AND BLOT W/A PAPER TOWEL. I WAS NOT SO LUCKY W/A WOOL RUG AND A COFFEE STAIN AND NEITHER WAS A RUG CLEANER. HOPEFULLY IF IT DOESN'T WORK YOU CAN STILL PUT A PIECE OF FURNITURE OVER IT. 🙂 GOOD LUCK!

Please note that the ink used by HP is a water based ink that will clean easily. Here’s how to remove ink stains from hands and fabric.
NOTE: IMMEDIATELY rinse the stained area with COLD water, and then follow the appropriate instructions.
To remove ink stains from hands:
Wash hands with an abrasive (gritty) soap. It may take several washings.
To remove ink stains from white fabrics:
If ink from an HP Inkjet print cartridge spills on white fabric, use chlorine bleach and cold water to remove the stain, but act quickly.
CAUTION: Use only COLD water. Warm or hot water will "set" the color into the fabric.
To remove ink stains from colored fabrics:
Use sudsy ammonia—a dilute mixture of detergent and ammonia—and cold water. Act quickly and test on an inconspicuous area first.
CAUTION: Use cold water. Warm or hot water will "set" the color into the fabric.
WARNING: Do not mix ammonia and chlorine bleach; this creates a toxic gas!
