In scanning photos my scans turn out with blue tint and horizontal lines running throughout.  They have the appearance of low color ink but I am only scanning, not printing.

I understand that you are facing a scan quality issue from your printer. 

Not to worry, I will be glad to help. 

Do you face the same issue when you make a copy on the printer?

 

Please follow the procedure mentioned in this HP Article to resolve the scan quality issue with the printer.

Yes. When I tried to copy the photo it came out just as bad. Tinted blue with lines throughout. When I print a photo that is on my computer it comes out fine.

Thanks for the reply and trying to make a copy. Copy and scan using the same mechanism. If you have exhausted the steps suggested in the article shared in my previous post. 

Please contact our phone support for the service options available for the printer. 

 

Please follow the procedure mentioned below to contact our phone support. 

  • Open link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/
  • Enter Product number or select to auto detects
  • Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
  • Scroll down and click on HP contact options - click on Get phone number.
