All of a sudden Scanning capability stopped. I've reinstalled drivers, and reconnected to printer, run HPScan doctor to no avail. Rebooted many times, restarted printer many times. Attempted using USB connector in lieu of wireless, no help. Also used Windows 10 scanning tool. Currently receiving "The printer is busy. Try again later."
Any suggestions.

Hi @gwit,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see that the scanning stopped working. I will do my best to assist you with this issue. If this helps you to reach a solution, please click the "Accept as Solution" button down below in this message. If you wish to say thanks for my effort to help, click the " Thumbs Up " to give me a Kudos.
I have provided a document for not being able to scan using Windows 10. If you are still having issues, try one of the apps in Step 6 of the document, under Can't scan after the upgrade, HP Printers - Printer Problems after Upgrading to Windows 10.
Please let me know the outcome and if there is anything else I can help you with. Thank you.

Thanks for your assistance. I tried both apps in Step 6, with no success.
I have one additional clue to share. When running HP Print and Scan Doctor, the device appears twice with two unique IP addresses. Using the device having same IP as on physical device settings screen, I always get Driver Check error with HP Print and Scan Doctor. I've uninstalled all instances of HP device and related software. After uninstall I get a "can't find HPxxxx? .dll driver during boot up. I then reinstalled device and all software. Missing driver message goes away but the same problem "unable to connect" issue recurs. Printing works fine, scanning no go.
Any additional tips appreciated.

Hi @gwit,
Thanks for providing that information. Can you still make a copy?
Most likely all the files for the printer weren't uninstalled from the computer and are causing some issues.
Please try the following steps:
I have provided some steps for backing up the registry and removing all the HP printer files.
Back up the registry first, before attempting any of these steps. Back up the registry.
For non-HP computers without another HP printer installed:
Press the Windows key and R, the run box will open.
Type in regedit and press OK.
Click the + signs beside the following:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software and remove the HP/Hewlett-Packard folders.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and remove the HP/Hewlett-Packard folders.
For HP computers or with multiple HP printers installed:
Press the Windows key and R, the run box will open.
Type in regedit and press OK.
Go to the Edit tab, then click on Find.
In the search box, type "OfficeJet 6700" and click Find Next.
Only certain ones will be relating to the printer, and they will have some indication in the description. When it finds one of the entries, and you have confirmed it is related to the printer, within a reasonable doubt, you can delete it by hitting Delete on the keyboard.
Once one entry is deleted, hit F3 on the keyboard, which stands for Find Next.
Repeat the process until all "OfficeJet 6700" printer entries are deleted.
Restart the computer.
Power cycle the router and restart the printer.
Perform a clean boot on the computer and turn off the Antivirus Software. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Then reinstall the printer software again, OJ6700_1315-1.exe
If you are still having issues, let me know what you have for a network setup.
(router, router/modem, 2 routers)
Thank you.

Thanks for the additional assistance. I performed all of the above and now I can't print. On scan, receive "Device is busy. Please try again: At this point, I'm giving up fixing this. I have an system backup from 2 weeks ago I'll restore my OS to previous state.

I performed system restore back to when Scanner was working properly and unfortunately it still has exact same issue. Not sure what to try next. Any thoughts on what can be tried next? Could the printer be to blame? Any additional help appreciated.

Hi @gwit,
I would power cycle the router and restart the printer and the computer.
It may have something still to do with the 2 IP addresses showing, to be sure run the PSDR again please. The printer should be connected to the main router, if you do have a couple of different networks setup.
What kind of network do you have setup?
(Router, Router/Modem, Extender)
I would try the Basic Print Drivers, just to see if you have the same results, OJ6700_Basicx86_1315.exe
Were you able to make a copy?
If you are, then it isn't a hardware issue.
Please keep me posted. Thank you.

I cycled router and printer and computer. Also reinitialized printer back to factory settings. Attempted to Copy. Unit says Starting Copy forever. Attempted Scan to USB, no go. Neither function worked. I'm guessing unit is defective.
Thanks for all your assistance. I'm buying a new unit.
