Lazerjet Pro 200 MFP

When a usb drive is inserted into the usb port the printer tells me to "insert usb drive". I have rebooted the printer, removed the usb drive and reinserted it and still get the same error message. Tried diferent brands of usb drives, some work some don't but the 1 that works gives me the " Insert usb drive" message.

Thanks, Newbergbd

Hello @newbergbd,

This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that the USB drive on the printer isn't reading the USB stick. I would like to help you resolve this issue, but I will need to know the exact model to provide you with the correct information.

Thanks!

Thanks, @newbergbd.

Your printer supports PDF and RGB JPEG  file types.

Source: Printer Specifications for HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color MFP M276n and M276nw.

Save the files on a standard USB storage accessory that uses File Allocation Table (FAT) file systems. The product supports FAT12, FAT16, and FAT32 USB storage accessories.

The USB storage accessory might have multiple partitions. (Some USB storage accessory manufacturers install software on the accessory that creates partitions, similar to a CD.) Reformat the USB storage accessory to remove the partitions, or use a different USB storage accessory.

I would update the printer's firmware to see if that will help: HP LaserJet Pro Series Firmware Update Utility.

Is the flash drive formatted?

Any files readable on the flash drive?

What size is the flash drive? (1 GB, 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB)

Does it work if the connect it to another device?

Let me know the results. Thanks!

Thanks for getting back to me @newbergdb.

May be a hardware issue with the USB port on the printer.

I can provide the reset for you in the PM to try.

Hi @newbergbd,

The only way to update the printer's firmware is from a computer.

Maybe you could borrow a Laptop, connect the printer by a USB cable and once the printer is installed you will be able to update the printer's firmware.

Here is the link: HP LaserJet Pro Series Firmware Update Utility.

Thanks!
