Hi @jakec101,

Welcome to the HP Community,

I understand the touchscreen display on your HP Envy 7645 is not working and I will be happy to help.

Firstly, do you have the printer plugged directly into a wall outlet? The printer has a power moderator built in, so if it is plugged into a surge bar or battery backup, it likely isn't getting consistent power. Power fluctuations can cause all manner of firmware or seemingly apparent hardware issues, so I'd recommend trying this first.

I also recommend Getting the Latest Firmware and Product Updates

If that doesn't resolve the issue, I'd recommend contacting our HP phone support for further assistance:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your
contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on: HP contact options - click on Get phone
number

DO NOT.....I REPEAT DO NOT.....LET ME SAY IT A-G-A-I-N..."DO NOT PURCHASE AN HP PRINTER!!!!!!!!!".
Let me start off by saying that I have been a LOYAL HP person since 1992!!!  That is TWENTY FOUR YEARS I have had nothing but
I bought a new HP Printer at Sam's in Texarkana, Tuesday, November 30. Installed it Wednesday. Immediately I noticed the 'touchscreen' was wonky. Googled it. Did the hard reset. Did the Firmware update. Same thing...touch screen would not respond when I tried to input anything from the Qwerty keyboard. I have just now spent nearly TWO HOURS on the phone with HP Tech support. I jumped through all the hoops...I do have to say it's NOT the tech support guy's fault. It was his "Supervisor" instructing him what I needed to:
1) "observe" it for a few days....  ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
2) have someone else try to input from the keyboard
3) perfrom TWO more HARD resets (we'd already done two already1!).
Needless to say, after jumping through all the hoops...guess what?  The touchscreen still did not work!!!! Gee....ya think?  I've never seen a firmware update or a reset instantly cure a bad touchscreen....
We were on the phone nearly TWO hours!  I am still on the phone.....this time with the 'hardware specialist' who is going to send me a REFURBISHED one.  Of course, I have to pay $20 for FedEx to get it here next week instead of week after next!
I have stood by HP through all the garbage of bad reviews & how terrible there tech support has gotten.  I've been really lucky being able to figure out most of the tech problems myself.  I'll read a manual for two days & try EVERYTHING before I call tech support...I would rather shoot myself in the foot than call tech support!!!!
Never again....they've cured me this time!!!
So sad...HP used to be a fantastic product!!
