f380
macOS 10.12 Sierra

I have f380 deskjet with mac OS 10.12.3. whenever I scan and try to save to the desktop - the scan comes out all black. This may have happened when I download the OS Sierra. Tried to get new software from HP - this use to be easy. Every time I go to the page it shows software for 10.12 but for some reason not able to download it. Something is incompatable. Any change of to download correct software. The printer prints ok.

Hi ZBaca,

There is not a driver to download for macOS 10.12, but you should be able to use Apple Software Update (ASU) to do the update.  You should be able to follow the instructions in this HP Support document to update your Deskjet F380 All-in-One Printer.

I down loaded 5.0. If you look at the chart for the supported printers F380 is not there. I just have a feeling that this printer is not properly supported for scanning with the Sierra OS. I can scan but unable to save to desktop.

My work around is - scan with Graphic Converter 10 - then use the grab utility to make a copy - then save to desktop.

Hi again,

Sorry to hear that ASU didn't work for you.

One other thing you can try (may be easier than your workaround) is the HP Easy Scan App.  You can find out more about it here.
