what does printer print

how does this printer print 5 x 7 color prints and how do i adjust so the prints don't cut off the heads without it saying picture dosen't fit on page

Download, install, and use the following software:

HP Photo Creations

Whether the photo image "fits" on 5X7 inch depends on the "shape of the image as compared to the shape of the paper".  For example, if the shape of the original image is square, the image will not "fit" properly on 5X7 inch print.

Aspect Ratio:  The ratio of the width to the height of an image or screen

Tractor, for the most control in HP Photo Creations, place your photo on the background of a collage print project. You can then use the Zoom and Pan controls to show the part you want.

Here's an example where the heads in the original photo were close to the top of the page. First we selected Apply Photo to Background. Then we zoomed in to fit more of the faces on the page. Then we panned (dragged on the arrow control in the bottom right corner) to slide the photo around behind the "window" of the page, revealing the parts we wanted.

As Dragon mentioned, a typical 4x3 digital image is a different shape than a 5x7 print, so you will lose the edges. Another option is to use a photo frame or matted print project in HP Photo Creations, which add a border around your photo. You can find all of these in the Prints menu.
