Hi @70suzie,

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others.

I see that you are having ink cartridge carriage stalled error message on your HP DeskJet 1512 printer. I'll be really glad to help you with this,

Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a Hard reset on the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test document and check if it works.

Step 1: Clear any jammed paper

Step 2: Make sure that the carriage moves freely

Step 3: Remove and reinsert the cartridges

Please follow the steps suggested in the support document for - The Carriage Jams and the Attention Light and Both Cartridge Lights Blink - Click here

If the issue still persists, then the issue could be with the printer hardware. I would suggest you contact HP tech support to create a printer service. You can get an upgrade on your current printer if the machine is out of warranty. Please fill in the product details to get the tech support number.
