Hi touladoug,
Are you faxing from the printer or computer?
Do you have any images on the documents you are faxing?
Print out the Printer status report, and then let me know what the fax settings are set to?
Default setting should be as follows
24. Fax Speed: Medium (14400)
25. Backup Fax Reception: On
26. Fax Forwarding: Off
27. Auto Answer: On
28. Rings to Answer: 5
29. Distinctive Ring: All Rings
30. (ECM) Error Correction Mode: On
31. Fax to PC: Off
32. Digital Fax: E-mail
33. Digital Fax: Network

I printed out the printer status report.
The only thing different is the fax speed is at fast 33600, which i changed to see if this would help from med. which it didnt and my rings are set up at 6 instead of 5, Everything else is the same. I just don't get why it takes so long to fax something to someone. I would take any suggestion to correct the speed of the fax transmission.

Hi touladoug,
Test the send and receive using the fax back service, and let me know if you have the same experience?
Use the HP Fax Test Service

- Make sure that the fax header contains the full 10-digit telephone number of your HP fax product, including the area code.
- On the product control panel, touch the Right Arrow (
).
- Touch Setup (
).
- Touch Fax Setup , and then touch Basic Fax Setup .
- Touch Fax Header .
- Using the touch keypad, touch the name or company name in the Name or Company field.
- Using the touch keypad, touch your fax number in the Fax Number field.
- Touch Done .
- Send a one-page, black-and-white text fax to 1-888-HPFaxMe (1-888-473-2963). The return fax should arrive within 5 to 7 minutes.
- If the HP product receives the return fax without any problems, and the failed fax recipient can receive faxes from your product, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
- If the HP product receives the return fax successfully, but sending still fails intermittently or fails for one recipient, continue to the next solution.

i faxed over a one line black and white and it took 1:01 min for transmission and then I faxed over a full black and white text page and it took 2:19 min to transmit. So it is the full pages that take so long. Why? Also all I got back from hp was a faxback test sheet and other useful web sites. So is this acceptable, because I my end it is not.
