My university won't allow wireless printers. My thought was to use the photosmart 5520 in wireless mode, connect to the internet through my dorm room ethernet connection using the 5520's usb port with a usb to ethernet adapter. i will just use eprint from my ipad to print.  will this work?

No,

Printing from iOS is only supported through a network connection (wired or wireless).

You may use Wireless Direct for this matter (where the printer acts as a router) to print from iOS on a local network:

I affraid not,

Internet connectivity is only available via wireless connection, conneecting it through a USB to your modem will not be possible, only direct connection to a computer is supported for such configuration.

Thanks for getting back to me. Will a Bluetooth adapter solve the problem?
