  • 59.F0 Error on HP Color Laserjet Pro  M452dn

I had my printer nonfunctional for a while now with this error constantly popping up.  Looking on support boards here at HP as well as other places, seemed to say that the problem and reason for this error constantly appearing has to do with needing to reseat the toner cartridges, and/or the fuser assembly,  and some boards and support sites trying to sell replacement parts suggesting needing to replace the transfer belt assembly or sensor switch.

Well after some time, I finally broke down and brought in a Printer tech to look at the printer and fix, maybe even replacing parts.....but guess what?  All that was done that fixed the problem so far, crossing my fingers, is doing a firmware update (if you can call it that) or doing an update on printer with a particular file (DCCV1_51.prn).  After updating the printer with this file, using a dos prompt/ command prompt to transfer from the C drive to the printer, solved/fixed the problem. Print out the Configuration report and in the Product Information section, look for Controller Number, in that field the controller number should be 15101.  If it shows a different number, it may need updating to fix the 59.F0 Error problem.

Anyway, I'm sure for those of you that have this problem, try this fix first before going down the path of replacing any part of the printer...and maybe doing a total firmware update on the printer might help and have this file  (DCCV1-51.prn) included in the update.  I asked where the tech obtained the file to upload and he didn't know for sure but thought it is out there by doing a search for it.  Hope this info helps others to get their M542dn printer back up and running again.

Great info.  I had read that a DC controller update was available.

Sure, after doing more searching, I have discovered there are Youtube videos that go over the process to flash the printer with the new prn file.  So I stand corrected that the fix is out there just wasn't clearly out there where I could find it.

good luck

I have posted the fix file and a PDF and linked in quite a few threads here but still does not seem to catch everyone.
