HP Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had this printer for years. I recently bought new ink for it, and on powering it on, I'm consistently getting the C4EBA341 error.

In unable to access the print spooler of the device, and cannot take the ink cartridges out, as this is happening on powering on. The device is plugged directly into a wall socket, so is receiving adequate power, and the device is way out of warranty, and I do not have money to replace it.

Is there anything else anyone can recommend, as I'm losing the will to live with this device.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I see that the printer is stuck on an error. Check if you can bypass the error to access the home screen of the printer.

If yes, let us try this:

Go to Setup > Tools > Restore to factory defaults

Note: You will have to reconnect the printer to the wireless network after the reset

Reset the printer:

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

If this does not help, unplug the power cable and hold the power button down for 10-15 seconds and release it. Power on the printer and check.

Check for any jams inside the printer and make sure the carriage is moving freely.

Hey @Echo_Lake

Thanks for your response. None of your recommendations worked unfortunately (As these were tried before you'd responded (I'm a tech analyst in my job, so understand basic troubleshooting)).

What is strange though, is the printer has not been plugged in for 2 days. I replugged it in again today, to re-go through the steps, to find the error has now disappeared, and then gave me a cartridge error, but allowed the cartridge tray be releases, in turn allowing me to change the cartridges.

This printer is over 10 years old, so expect its on its way out, but I cant afford to replace it.
