HP OfficeJet Pro 8740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Does anyone know how to turn on borderless printing for the 8740?  A Google search seems to suggest there's an on/off setting somewhere, but I'm unable to locate it.  The margin settings are greyed out in Windows which points back to the printer.  I'm trying to print thank you cards and the design needs to at least come close to the edge of the page. As it is, the top has a .5" border and the bottom a .75" border. I've adjusted headers and driver preferences, even made my own borderless paper template, but still get the same top and bottom margins...

The solution document you provided was very helpful even though it wasn't a picture I was trying to print.

Two main things worked:

  1. Downloading the FULL set of drivers from HP. Apparently the basic drivers it comes with aren't the full set. Many more options now.
  2. Setting the page settings to "Edge to Edge Letter" immediately filled the 8.5x11 page - I could see it in the preview.

(note: solution #2 did not work until I downloaded the full set of drivers).

I hope this helps others!

Hi @Ike_Seattle,

Thanks for using the HP Forum.

Besides the Edge to Edge Letter or A4 printing option, you can install an alternative printer software.

The resource will show you how it's done :

HP Officejet Pro 8730/8740 : Print Borderless photos

It will allow you to print 4x6, 5x7 etc (besides just Letter or A4)

Hope that helps!
