I am getting a thick band of streaking down the center of the printer.  How do I fix this?

I've scanned and attached below a page that was printed from a blank word document.

Hello @OhHello,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!

  1. Print a cleaning page
should this have no success, continue with the status page
  2. Print a Supplies Status Page

If there is no scanner, then take pictures with your smart phone and upload here, click on the icon "Insert photos", "Set format = Large", original size at least 200 KB.
But before you must remove or delete the personal data and printer serial number on the printout.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted, if not.
Andreas

Cleaning page didn't work.

Here are the supply pages:

Hi,

How do I understand this?

The comparison of the images shows that the "thick streak" is no longer present on the Supply Page.

Only a small strip is still visible.

The status page is OK.

Has the printer been checked for toner residue?

I suggest to print the cleaning page again and then:

  1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, select the Device Maintenance menu.
  2. Select the following menus:
    1. Calibration/Cleaning
    2. Full Calibration
  3. Select Start to start the calibration process.

Kind Regards

I ran the cleaning page.  Ran calibration.  Then ran the cleaning page again.

I would look at transfer belt and fuser as possible causes. In the solid black area of the cleaning page it looks solid which suggests something dragging on the page like a part of a label.

Do you have part numbers for the transfer belt and fuser?

Check everything carefully before ordering any parts. The transfer belt in particular is over half the price of a new printer.

In this printer model you can easily clean the waste compartment of the ITB, hoover it and clean the blade as well. You might get away with this and wont have to order a new ITB, unless it's damaged.

Does anyone know of any resources or articles for cleaning the ITB?
