HP Office Jet Pro 6975
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My problems start when my HP Office Jet Pro 6975 started telling me to check for jammed paper.  However no matter how many times I checked there was no paper.   Then it started giving me this message; "There is a problem with the printer or print system.  Turn the printer Off, then On.  If you continue to get this message ,  contact HP. 0x6100004b".  So I got online and asked about that message was told to do a hard restart of the printer.  So I went to follow the instructions to do that.  Step 1 was to make sure the printer was on and idle.  So I turned on the printer and for several hours now the screen has shown the message "Checking the Printer.  Please wait..."  Can anyone help me with this?

Hi @RangerGus

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to help you with the "0x.." error.

Let's try these steps -

1) Take out the cartridges.

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Wait for 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Update the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

If the issue still persists, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Have a great day!
