My printer makes a squeaking . screeching painful noise when printing, which is worsening every day. I checked to see if toners in place and they are. I have only used HP toners. I use it with a MAC.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the printer is making a loud noise when printing.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.
- When was the last time the printer was working fine?
- Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
- Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?
Meanwhile, follow the below steps and check if it helps.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
- Unplug the printer power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds. Restart the computer while you are waiting.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- If the printer does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
- Make sure the printer is connected to the computer or the network.

After I posted my question, I received a message from HP that this forum was not the place to resolve this issue and that I should call HP support. I instead just googled my problem, and the first article I found talked about that if the ink were really low, that that could be a cause of the problem. And interesting, the ink responsible in that question was the yellow toner. They suggested removing the toner and let the printer going through initializing and see if the sound is gone during this. And low and behold it was. I had let both the magenta and yellow run very low, because I didn't want the expense of replacing them. And it was the removal of the yellow toner that stopped the noise, even though the magenta was lower. Not wanting a repeat, I ordered new toners and replaced and all is well.
