HP Smart looks fancy, is hard to navigate, and is the cause of all my printing issues. For info, I am connected by wireless.
There is no obvious way to the Windows Print Queue, so you have to open Windows Settings/Bluetooth and Devices/ and if your printer is listed you can click on Open printer queue (yes, that is a moan at Windows 10 and 11).
Then you can see a print job stuck, but trying to cancel it in the printer queue is not recognised by HP Smart.
Also I usually get "Printer status unknown". So the ink levels are not shown. I have followed all the helpful posts to fix that, and eventually (shut down laptop, turn printer power off for 1 minute, reboot laptop, turn printer back on) I may get lucky, but next print job I am back to square one.
The one thing I find handy is the Scan feature, but even that has a clunky interface.
As far as I am concerned, HP should throw that app away and start again.

Hi Betty, the important thing is to feed back to HP developers how useless HP Smart is as an app. I forgot in my list of things wrong with it that it also takes ages just to load.
Yes, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. That didn’t fix anything.

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:
Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo
14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
15.) Restart the computer.
Once done, please download and install the software from here:
