Microsoft Windows 11

I changed the four cartridges for my Xpress C460FW.  Three seem to be fine but the Printer won't function and the display say to Install Toner with the indicator pointing towards the Blue toner.

Hi @SBurns1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your Samsung Xpress C460FW printer is displaying a message to install the toner with an indicator pointing towards the blue (cyan) toner, here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Open the front cover of the printer.
  • Carefully remove the cyan toner cartridge.
  • Reinsert the toner cartridge ensuring it is properly seated in its slot. Make sure you hear it click into place.

Inspect the Cartridge:

  • Examine the contacts and chip on the cyan toner cartridge for any dirt or damage.
  • Clean the gold contacts with a lint-free cloth if needed to ensure a good connection with the printer.

Check Digitally:

  • Navigate through the printer’s settings menu to see if there are any options for toner recognition or resets. This option may force the printer to run a check on newly installed cartridges.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug the power cord, wait for about a minute, and then plug it back in. Turn on the printer and see if the issue persists.

Examine the Control Panel Messages:

  • Confirm if your display message provides any additional information. Refer to the user's guide for any specific recommendations regarding display messages and how to address them.

Replace the Cartridge:

  • If the above steps do not resolve the issue, try using a different cyan toner cartridge to see if the problem persists. This could help determine if the initial cartridge was faulty.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
