After upgrading to Catalina OSX 10.15 Easy Document Creator can no longer connect to the remote scanner. It shows up within settings and can be addressed directly but not over the EDC software anymore.

The error reads:

"Scanner device is not responding. Please check that it is turned on and connected to computer".

Easy Printer Manager though shows the printer and its toner level etc.

Is there any fix for this? I know that Scan Assistent is 32 bit but that software was not needed anymore and OSX did not complain about EDC so in theory it should work.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have the same issue since updating to Catalina earlier today.  And I had other issues using the Samsung scanner even with Mojave.

I did work out an inefficient "workaround" however to scan documents in Catalina with the Samsung C480x MF printer:

In your Mac, open PREVIEW.

Press CANCEL at the first Finder screen.

From the PREVIEW screen, select FILE > IMPORT FROM SAMSUNG C48X Series.

The typical scanner screen should show up.  Make sure you have the Scan Mode set correctly to Document Feeder or Flatbed.

Now, for the tricky part.

YOU HAVE TO SELECT "JPEG" FORMAT!!!

Selecting any other format will result in your scan not being saved!!!!!  The scan will fail if it's not in a JPEG format!!!!!

Continue with the scanning process, as you would normally do.

When you are done scanning, the PREVIEW screen will show the scanned document(s) and pages of the document.

I then FILE > QUIT Preview.  This opens up a SAVE dialogue.  It will ask you if you want to save the document, the save location AND IT ASKS YOU THE FORMAT OF THE DOCUMENT.  If you want to save this as a PDF format instead of a JPEG, you can do so here.

You now have successfully scanned your document.  It's not pretty, but it works.
