Good afternoon,
I have a Samsung M4580FX printer with a failed hard drive. Can someone help me with the files needed to recover it?

• Memory stick must contain the following 3 files only.
- Unix script files x 2
- HDD image file x 1

Thanks iin advance

Typically the brand of harddrive is not an issue and anything up to 500Gb should work, based on feedback of other users on this forum. However, SSD drives are not listed as supported and your success with that will vary wildly.

Some users have also reported problems related to the USB stick that were resolved by using a different one.

If you find the information provided useful or solves your problems, help other users find the solution easier by marking my post as an accepted solution. Clicking "yes" on "was this reply helpful" also increases the chances that this solution will help others.

hello!!

thanks for the help and links,

I'm trying the recovery, without luck so far.

I don't know if these questions will be relevant: Does the hard drive have to be exactly the same as the one that failed in brand, model and capacity? Does the USB memory have to meet some other characteristics apart from being formatted in FAT32?

I'll keep you informed in the forum.

It seems that the SATA data cable is also part of the problem; I replaced the one from the multifunctional device with another one from a Dell PC, and it can now recognize some of the disks I tested..

Regarding the USB memory, I had to switch to an older version for the printer to recognize it. Sometimes I have managed to format the disk, but on occasions, I get an S1-2111 error (if I remember correctly) and other times an S5-3111 when the device restarts after the format.
