HP Recommended

I have a Samsung Xpress M2675F printer. I've just replaced the toner cartridge but an error comes up 'Not compatible imaging unit'. All the error messages and diagnostics I can find in manuals and on the web only refer to imaging units being past their life (9k copies). I'm not at that stage and this error does not refer to it. I can't find this error in any manual or web search. What can I do?

HP support (who have taken over the Samsung brand) claim that a 'fix' to the firmware somewhere along the line means that only toner cartridges with the compatible area code will work in the printer. I find this difficult to believe when it's the imaging unit it is complaining about.
