MAC OS MONTERREY 12.6.8.
MY CLX-3185, purchased in 2011, sat idle for a long while in our home office until I recently started using it again. Installed new toner cartridges, but there is a thin mulit-color horizontal line right thru the middle of the printed page. Then when I tried to register it on the HP website to ask for assistance, it says my SN is invalid, although it is exactly as shown on the label.
I find no way to contact HP without a valid SN.
I don't think the firmware was ever updated. driver version 1.07.01.
I can't even get to the printer from my gateway, as I don't know the MAC address.
Suggestions, PLEASE!

Following up on my prior post: As an Engineer with a LOT of experience with electronics repair, I must report that this unit gets maybe 1/2 of 5 stars. I bought it in 2012 [~$600] due to the onerous cost of ink cartridges for ink jets, and it worked OK for a while, used only for color prints and copying. The color was disappointing, but otherwise ok. Then I needed new toner, as the initial ones didn't last long. The set of 4 was ~ $180, which was in 2013 an astounding ripoff. Then I learned that the Samsung cartridges had "chips" that count pages, and when the fixed number was reached, it wouldn't print regardless of the actual toner remaining. A shameless business practice, also followed by other pinter manufacturers.. [BTW, Brother lasers don't have chips.].
So this time, following the user's manual that said my problem was likely bad toner cartridges. I bought a set of aftermarket ones for $85, and installed them. This brought a prompt saying "Prepare Toner", which apparently means it doesn't recognize the cartridge as Samsung. Yet it would still try to print.
And now it says there's a paper jam. The User's Manual instructions were useless, as they are based on other CLX models. The jam is apparently on the fuser itself, and is so tightly jammed it won't release. So I managed to get the Fuser out- despite no useful instructions from the Service Manual, and find a thick layer of paper firmly fused to the fuser [no pun intended].
So, this machine is going into the recycle pile, and I will never again buy any Samsung products as their business practices are clearly unethical.
Speaking of, our SAMSUNG smart TV recently began loading promotional content that appears whenever the set is first turned on. I removed it several times and it returned whenever it started up and was connected to the internet, which is of course necessary for streaming.
