Samsung ProXpress C3060FW
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I acquired this printer from my employer because, from day one, it has had printing issues that have never been fully resolved and they were just fed up with dealing with it after 4 months of trying.

The C3060FW originally arrived to my company with a defective black toner cartridge - the imaging roller was damaged so it created an ugly mark every 1 1/2" or so down the length of the page. The color cartridges appear to be in perfect working order (their imaging rollers do not create smudges or mars on the page, except as described below).

The black cartridge was replaced with a re-manned cartridge that the machine would not recognize.  That re-manned cartridge was replaced with a Samsung-brand high-yield cartridge which, again, the printer would not recognize. HP technician was called to install a part that was supposed to make the printer recognize the high-yield cartridge which did not solve that problem.  SO, the high-yield cartridge was AGAIN replaced with a Samsung-brand standard-yield cartridge which was finally recognized by the printer.

HOWEVER, with the installation of this new, recognized cartridge, not a single print has ever been produced that doesn't have either random colored lines running horizontally throughout the entire page or the entire page is completely covered with color along with the random colored horizontal lines throughout. It doesn't seem to matter what you try to print - pictures, graphics, text, etc... it's always one of these two results.

When the original black cartridge was installed (the one that was in it when the company received the printer), everything printed normally - text was crisp, colors were vibrant and images were impressively clear... with the exception of the nickle-sized mark created by the damaged imaging roller on the black cartridge (which is why the original cartridge was replaced in the first place).

This machine is less than one year old (sent to our company, new in the box, in June 2019).  It has been looked at by an HP tech as well as my company's IT techs and none of them could figure out what caused the print quality issue - but, I don't know what methods they used to try to resolve the problem, other than the HP tech installing the after-market part in an effort to get the machine to recognize the high-yield cartridge.

I would like to do a factory reset of this machine to see if that will resolve the issues but I have no idea how and I do not see the option to do so in the system settings screen on the printer. There is an "Admin Setup" screen that I cannot access because I do not have a password for it so I have to wonder if the option for factory reset is in that screen.

Is there a work-around for this printer to do a hard factory reset.... if not, is there a way I can find the password for the Admin Setup menu?

OR, better yet, is there a fix for the print quality issues I have described above??

If I do not find a resolution to this issue, I will put this bricked printer to the curb and buy another brand to save myself further frustration... I'd rather not have to because this unit really does seem like it could be a really cool setup if I can get it to work the way it was meant to (plus, I got it for nearly a steal!!).

Please help, if you can.

Thanks!

Can you scan a sample and post here with the print quality defect?

SO, the high-yield cartridge was AGAIN replaced with a Samsung-brand standard-yield cartridge which was finally recognized by the printer.

According to specifications that can be found online, there are no high yield and standard yield toner cartridges, maybe I am wrong, can you check what is part code on high yield ( that doesn't work) and standard yield ( that works) cartridge that you have.

The K503L black cartridge is the high-yield - not recognized by my printer.

The K503S black cartridge is the standard-yield and what I currently have in my printer.

Here are examples of what prints out (I can't see where I can upload .pdf files, so I took photos of the printouts)

The first image is a test print from my computer to the printer.  The second image is a test print directly from the printer's setup screen.

I have seen this problem in the past and the cause of them was one or more non-genuine toners or override genuine toners. What about the colour cartridges are they genuine or not?

When you install your old black toner standard yield that leaves an ugly mark on the print you have no other print quality issues?

All 4 toner cartridges are genuine Samsung products.

I will put the old cartridge with the damage back in and give it a try when I get home from work, but when I tried printing with it before, it had no other issues other than that mark.

I will pop it in, print a test page and post a photo of the results.  I should be home within the next 2 hours or so.

Disregard my previous claim that the original cartridge worked with the exception of the damage mark... it currently has the same issues as the new cartridge - blue page with horizontal colored lines and black text behind.

So, this is where I am right now.  A beautiful new printer that can't print anything worth looking at.
