Samsung Xpress SL-C410W Color Laser Printer

Last summer (2023) I bought a full set of toner cartridges for the C410W printer, just so I could have them on hand when I needed them.  We don't run a lot of paper through this printer, so it took until today for the old yellow cartridge (CLT-Y406S) to finally give out.  I replaced it with the cartridge in stock, only to see the dreaded red light indicating that something was wrong.  The Samsung Easy Printer Manager client software allowed me to drill down on the error:  the printer is reporting the cartridge as incompatible.

There are a couple of different part IDs out there for cartridge CLT-Y406S.  One of the HP support folks verified in a chat session just now that SU466A is the ID for the Canadian version of that cartridge and SU462A is the appropriate one for the USA.  This one is indeed labeled SU462A, and was purchased from Samsung's Amazon store.  Any thoughts on what might be causing the printer to reject the cartridge?

Make sure that you have removed all packaging and shipping stops. Make sure that the chip on the cartridge is clean. Look for  small bit of pc board with several gold contacts. Try turning off the printer and turning it on with the new cartridge installed.

Thanks, Repairatrooper.  The packaging/shipping bits are pretty straightforward on this cartridge, but I rechecked just to make sure.  There are also no obvious user-accessible chips, just four contact patches that are engaged by spring-loaded contact probes on the toner access door.  I did wipe all of those off with a cotton swab, then powered down the printer, reinstalled everything, crossed fingers and powered up, but all for naught:  the printer still reports "Yellow toner cartridge is not compatible.  Check user's guide."

Here's a thought:  in another thread you referred to https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c05868396 as a crosswalk page between old and new part numbers.  I note that that page has no reference to cartridge ID SU462A, only to SU466A.  Is it possible that this cartridge was actually for some entirely different model of printer than my C410W, one so old that it doesn't even show up on that crosswalk page?  Or does the fact that that page is listed as "ca-en" suggest that the previous information I have is correct, that SU466A is for Canada and SU462A is for the USA?
