Samsung M2070

Good Day,

i have a Samsung M2070 printer which is around 3 years old.

It is close to having printed 2000 pages (no typo, only 2000 pages). However, I do have some problems with the printer.

If I am printing from a PC, the prints do look quite clean and sharp. However, if I am copying a document, the print is very pale and most of the details that are not completely black on the original are completely lost. I've set the darkness from "Normal" to "Dark +5" with nearly no change.

In addition to that, some pages (no matter if printed from a PC or copied) have toner smear either on the back or the front. The intensity also varies. I have cleaned the printer and the problem is not made by the current toner cartridge, as it was the same with the old two cartridges.

Is there anyone who has an idea what could cause those problems? I am currently really fed up by this printer with only having printed 2000 pages and the scanner (712 scans) making squeaky noises, the printer taking up to 3 tries to pick up the first piece of paper on a print job, not being able to copy some documents and having to re-print some jobs due to the toner smear.

Thank you so much and have a great day!

Chris

Are the toner smears repetitive? Can you post a sample as that often makes it easier to troubleshoot.  As for the multiple attempts to pick a document, that can simply be a dirty pickup roller which can be cleaned with a water dampened lint free cloth. ADF noise is sadly a common complaint on most consumer products as moving components are often plastic on plastic and once a little bit of dirt works into the moving components they squeak. A needle oiler can sometimes help to cure these noises.

Unfortunately, they are not repetitive and do only occur randomly now and then. I currently have no document with smears here, that does not contain too sensitive information.

However, they usually occur at the beginning of a page as not really light grey but also not dark grey smudges, either as a more horizontal or vertical "line".

The printer is also not being moved around, so there is no chance for toner coming out of the cartridge due to vibration, etc.

Regarding the pickup roller: I've cleaned it a while ago (when the problem started to appear) with no effect.

Unfortunately, the M2070 has no ADF but only a flatbed scanner and the scanner itself moving around makes the noise. However (as far as I was able to figure out), there is no possibility to oil that.

Thank you so much for your help!
