So i have this Samsung M4070FR, it has a problem where sometimes, it won't print anything unless i hard reset it by turning it on and off, putting that aside, theres no problem at all, it prints fine and this problem just occurs one time per day, or it doesnt even occur.  We already updated its firmware

Hello @YanWaltrick, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for the details. Since the Samsung ProXpress M4070FR prints normally after a power cycle and the firmware is already up to date, the intermittent nature of the problem points more toward a sleep/power-saving state or a communication/print-queue issue than a permanent print mechanism failure.

Because the printer can recover after being turned off and on, the goal is to identify what is causing the temporary lockup.

1. Check the printer's sleep and power-saving settings

The printer may occasionally fail to wake correctly from a power-saving state.

  • Find the printer's IP address and open it in a web browser to access SyncThru Web Service.
  • Sign in if prompted.
  • Look under Machine Settings, System, or Power Save for the sleep/power-saving options.
  • Temporarily increase the Sleep/Power Save timer or disable the setting, if available.
  • Use the printer normally for several days and see whether the once-a-day failure stops.
  • If the problem disappears while the printer remains awake, that would strongly suggest a sleep/wake state issue rather than a printing hardware problem.

2. Check how the printer is installed on the computer

An intermittent "printer does nothing" condition can also occur when Windows is using a network-discovered queue that has stopped communicating correctly.

  • Open Windows Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Check whether the M4070FR is installed using a WSD or automatically discovered port.
  • If possible, use the printer's TCP/IP address with the appropriate Samsung/HP printer driver instead of relying on automatic WSD discovery.
  • Remove duplicate or obsolete printer queues if multiple entries for the same printer are installed.
  • This helps determine whether the daily failure is caused by the computer losing communication with the printer rather than the printer itself freezing.

3. Test the printer when the problem occurs

The next time it stops printing, don't immediately power-cycle it. First check whether the printer itself is responsive.

  • Can you make a copy directly from the printer?
  • Does the printer control panel respond normally?
  • Can you print a configuration or status report from the printer?
  • Does the computer's print queue show the job as pending, paused, or stuck?

This distinction is important. If the printer can copy and print an internal report while computer print jobs are stuck, the problem is likely with the network connection, driver, or print queue. If the printer itself is completely unresponsive until restarted, the issue is more likely related to the printer's firmware, power-management state, or hardware.

Since the firmware is already current and the printer otherwise prints correctly, I would first test the sleep/power-saving settings and then investigate the network printer queue/driver. Avoiding a daily hard reset is the goal; the pattern of when the failure occurs can help identify whether this is a wake-from-sleep problem or a communication problem.

If it happens again, let me know whether the printer's control panel still responds and whether you can make a copy while the computer cannot print. That will help narrow down the cause considerably.

Have a great day!

I'm an HP Employee.
