Hi @Neospark,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

A printer that remains stuck on the loading/initializing screen can indicate HDD corruption, firmware corruption, or a hardware issue with the internal storage device.

Before proceeding, try a full power reset:

  1. Turn the printer off.

  2. Disconnect the power cable and any USB/network cables.

  3. Wait at least 5 minutes.

  4. Reconnect only the power cable and restart the printer.

According to the Samsung service documentation for the ProXpress M4080FX series, the printer includes a System Recovery function that can repair or re-image the HDD. The recovery process requires a USB drive formatted as FAT16/FAT32 containing:

  • Two UNIX script files

  • One HDD image file

The service documentation also indicates that System Recovery can be entered automatically if the HDD is faulty, or by forcing recovery mode during power-on.

However, the documentation does not provide public download links for the required recovery image files.

If the printer cannot enter Recovery Mode and you do not already have the required recovery package, the next step would be to contact HP Enterprise/Samsung printer support or an authorized service provider, as these recovery images are typically service-level resources and may not be publicly available.

If you can provide:

  • The exact message shown on the screen

  • Whether the printer stops at a specific percentage (for example, 94%)

  • Whether the internal HDD is detected or making unusual noises

We can help determine whether this is likely a firmware issue or a failed HDD.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.
