Hi @DavidML1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand you’re trying to install the driver for your Samsung Xpress SL-M2020 printer, but you’re getting the error “The specified path does not contain any applicable device INFs” on Windows 11. This usually happens when the driver package is outdated or not fully compatible with the OS. Let’s fix it together:

1. Use HP’s Universal Print Driver (UPD)

Since HP now manages Samsung printers, go to the HP Support site.

Search for Samsung Xpress SL-M2020.

Download the latest HP Universal Print Driver (PCL6 or PostScript) that supports Windows 11.

2. Remove old driver packages

Press Win + R, type printui /s /t2, and press Enter.

In the Print Server Properties window, remove any old Samsung printer drivers.

3. Install using Windows Update

Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners → Add device.

If Windows detects the printer, install it directly (drivers will be pulled from Windows Update).

4. Manual installation (if needed)

Extract the downloaded driver file.

Open Device Manager → Printers.

Right-click your printer → Update driver → Browse my computer → Let me pick.

Point to the extracted driver folder and finish installation.

5. Alternative: Samsung Printer Installer tool

Download Samsung Printer Installer (from HP’s support site).

Run it; it auto-detects the printer and installs the right drivers.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for your detailed help. However, it did not work.  I printed from another computer using this printer today. (I thought the printer USB cable might be shorted.) Step 3. Printer not detected. Step 4. Device Manager did not show "Printers". Step 5. Printer was detected but got same error message about "INFs not detected". Driver download stopped at 63%. Then the Samsung app said "installation finished." Went to print a Word document. Printer did not appear in Word.  Do you have any other suggestions?

Hi,

Thank you for getting back with the detailed update, it really helps narrow this down. Since the printer works on another computer, the issue looks to be driver/connection-specific on this Windows 11 system. Let’s try a few more advanced steps:

1. Clean up driver remnants completely

Disconnect the printer from the computer.

Press Win + R, type printui /s /t2, and remove all Samsung/HP drivers listed.

Open Device Manager → View → Show hidden devices → expand Printers and Universal Serial Bus controllers. Remove any grayed-out Samsung printer entries. Restart the PC.

2. Use Windows built-in drivers

Connect the printer via USB only.

Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners → Add device → Add manually.

Select “Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.”

Choose port: USB001 (Virtual printer port for USB).

On the manufacturer list, scroll to HP (not Samsung) → select HP Universal Print Driver PCL6.

3. Try HP Smart / Easy Printer Manager

Download and install HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. Sometimes it pulls the correct driver package for legacy Samsung models.

Alternatively, install Samsung Easy Printer Manager (from HP’s site) to confirm connectivity and force the driver installation.

4. Windows Update catalog driver
If the above fails, you can download the INF driver directly from the Microsoft Update Catalog (search for Samsung Xpress SL-M2020). Extract the CAB file, then in Device Manager → Update driver → Browse → point to the extracted folder.

I hope this helps.
