I just change my mac OS X for Pop'OS 24.04 (based on Ubuntu 24) and I search the driver(s) for scanning and printing with my SL-C460W.

Do someone is knowing where I can find that?

Thanks!

Hi @cdewaele,

To set up your Samsung XPress C460W printer on Pop!_OS 24.04 (based on Ubuntu 24), you'll need to install appropriate Linux drivers that support both printing and scanning functions. Here’s how you can proceed:

  1. Download Unified Linux Driver:

    • Samsung printers, including the XPress C460W, often use the Samsung Unified Linux Driver.
    • You can download the driver from Samsung’s support website or the HP website since HP acquired Samsung's printer business.
    • Samsung Printer Unified Driver for Linux
  2. Installing the Driver:

    • Once downloaded, extract the contents of the driver package.
    • Open a terminal and navigate to the directory where the driver has been extracted.
    • Execute the installation script by running:
      sudo ./install.sh

    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  3. Configure the Printer:

    • After installation, open the printer settings from the Pop!_OS settings menu.
    • Add the Samsung XPress C460W printer, ensuring it is connected via USB or over the network.
    • Select the appropriate printer model and driver from the list.
  4. Setting Up the Scanner:

    • For scanning functionality, you may need additional software like sane or Xsane.
    • Install Xsane using the terminal:
      sudo apt install xsane

    • Launch Xsane or any scanning application and ensure the scanner is recognized.
  5. Test Printing and Scanning:

    • Test a print job to verify that the printer is correctly configured.
    • Similarly, test scanning functionality to ensure everything is working as expected.

Troubleshooting:

  • If your printer or scanner is not detected, ensure that the device is properly connected and turned on.
  • Make sure that the printer is reachable on your network if you are using it in network mode.
  • Check that CUPS (Common Unix Printing System) is installed and running, which can be managed via a web interface by visiting http://localhost:631.
