Product: HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The HP Scan S/W that came with my printer used to present me with a drop-down of 1-sided or 2-sided in the Page Sides set-up but suddenly offers only 1-sided. Using the 2-sided option would allow me to scan once and then prompt me to flip the stack and re-feed. The S/W would then correctly reorder the images. HP Scan Doctor does not identify any issue or fix. 2-sided was always there and then it wasn't. 1-sided scanning still works fine.

If you have not done so,

Try / Consider

 

Make sure Windows Updates are current and that there are no "Pending Restart" updates to be complete.

 

Remove the printer from Printers and Scanners > Restart the computer > Re-add the printer -- when asked, opt to use the software already installed.

 

OR

 

Uninstall the printer software > Restart the computer > Download / Save / Install a fresh copy of the Full Feature Software

What if?

Note that if you cannot, will not, or do not wish to reload the printer software, you could try instead Restarting everything, including the router that controls your network.  It might not work but it is easy and takes little time to complete.
