Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a few months old Officejet 8023.

I used to be able to send a scan directly from the printer's touch screen to an Outlook email through the USB connection.

after some problems with the printer (sometimes didn't print until I restarted it) I reset the printer to factory settings.

Now when I choose to send a scan to Outlook email, I get an error message:

"The scan was not completed due to one or more of the following problems:

The connection to the computer was lost

The scanning app is in use..."

Please help
