Fax to email stopped working about a month ago.  I reinstalled everything using HP Smart.  I ran the test at the end and got a "success".  I also got the test email sent from the setup program.  So, I know everything is set up correctly.  BUT I STILL DO NOT GET FAXES SENT TO EMAIL.  I get hard copy faxes only.I have spent countless hours on this. HELP.

Welcome to the HP User Community.

The timing is suspicious, yes?

If you are using a G-Mail account for the Fax to Email,

(then)

you might have been caught when Google changed its policy on Less Secure Apps.

What?

You might need to create an app password for your Fax to Email profile.

Possibly similar to the following.

The video, of course, is not relevant - it describes the process to set up Scan to Email....

Less secure apps & your Google Account

This video will quickly show you how to set up scan to email with an HP printer with **bleep** AND keep the 2-Step verification security feature. App Passwords

Set up Scan to Email HP Printer with 2 Step Verification on **bleep** and Google

Steps

Log into your Google Account

Open your Google Security Webpage

Next, if not done, Switch ON 2-step verification

Turn on 2-Step Verification

Next, Complete the steps to open your mail security settings

Sign in with App Passwords

and

Create / Select app and (then) create your app password

  • At the bottom, choose Select app and choose the app you using > Select device and choose the device you’re using > Generate.
  • Follow the instructions to enter the App Password. The App Password is the 16-character code in the yellow bar on your device.
  • Tap Done.

Tip: Most of the time, you’ll only have to enter an App Password once per app or device, so don’t worry about memorizing it.

Assign / set that new App Password in your Scan to Email  / Fax to Email profile as the password.

Save and Test

That was the initial problem so set up and App password it Google - which was accepted because the fax to email test passed.  I also received the test email; but no other faxes went to email.  I finally solved this by restoring the printer to factory defaults; uninstalling the printer; and doing a clean install of drivers with HP Smart.  Then I set up a new **bleep** App password and tested everything again.  The test worked again - and I also began to (finally) receive faxes to email.  This issue is now solved.

Makes sense.

Lots of people have been caught by this change.

Yes, sometimes you have to pound on it to get it to "take".

Glad it's working as you need.
