Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

ENVY 5530

I was trying to scan a document to make copies and the scanner never scanned. The screen on the printer just kept saying now scanning. I cut it off and tried again, same results. Today when I turned on printer a Scanner problem error message appeared and said " Turn printer off and then on. If problem is not fixed, the scanner component is broken and cannot scan or copy". I followed the instructions so at this point Im assuming the scanner component is broken. The warranty has expired so is this something that can be fixed or is it not worth the troubles and money? because it still prints just no copying nor scanning.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Reset the printer to clear certain error states by calibrating the scanner mechanism, and then check the power source to confirm the printer is getting enough power to operate the scanner.

  1. Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already on.

  2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  3. Disconnect the power cord from the power source, and then wait 30 seconds.

  4. If you previously connected the power cord to a power strip or multi-plug outlet adapter, reconnect the cord directly to a wall outlet to ensure the printer is getting enough power.

  5. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then turn on the printer.

    • If the error no longer displays, make a test copy to confirm the issue is resolved.

    • If the error still displays, connect the printer power cord to a different wall outlet to determine if the original outlet is causing the issue.

Perform a visual test of the scanner mechanism to see if it is jammed.

  1. Remove any original documents or photos from the scanner glass.

  2. Lift the scanner lid slightly, and then press the Copy button or icon.

    • If the scanner light does not move, the scanner mechanism is likely jammed.

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you for responding.  I followed the steps but when I reconnected power cord in the back of printer now all the buttons on the touch screen are flashing and the screen has a pic of the power button in blue with"C4EBA341" . 1. While the printer is ON, open the cartridge access door. Let the carriage move from the right. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  2. Shut down the computer.
  3. Power off the wireless router.
  4. Remove the ink cartridges.
  5. Wait for 30 seconds.
  6. Plug in the power cord to the printer. If it does not Power On automatically then press the ON button to do so.

How did the visual test go?

Let me know 🙂

I have too have had the problem that the scanner hangs when doing local copy or gives a message that the scan driver can't communicate. The explanation offered on several forums/threads is basically that the scanner module is bust. However, I have had the print head jam several times and freed this with a touch of machine oil. I suspected this could be the case with the scan head. After a few sharp blows on each side of the machine, it did a copy and then refused - i.e. something was working but was it indeed what I suspected or a dodgy connection/component? I undid about half a dozen screws under the scan deck, sprung the gap open and through the gap applied a few touches of light machine oil to the scanner head tracks with a cotton bud attached to a length of stiff wire. I have now done quite a few local copies as well as scanning docs from the computer. It seems to have worked and saved me buying a new scanner/printer. Time will tell! However, I suggest disconnect power first and, of course, don't hold me responsible for the outcome if you try this!
