HP Envy 4500
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all,

Since a week I have troubles when trying to scan or copy a document with my Envy 4500. When I initialize a scan job via my laptop or initialize a copy task via the printer interface, the scanner starts scanning. In the middle or at the end of the scan it pauses, saying 'scanning' without sending the image to the computer or printer.

What is strange, is that (with the lid open):

  • Sometimes the scan bar is illuminated and sometimes not
  • The small cable tray is pushed in the direction of the fixed attachment, folding up and flipping at a certain moment
  • The scan bar does not always reach the end
  • When stuck in 'scanning', the scan bar does not go back to the start position

I have a stable wifi connection to my home network. The scanner is used for 5 years, for few times per year.

Anyone of you having ideas what the issue can be? Any help is appreciated!
