There is still a need to scan 8.5 x 14 (Legal size), so why would HP take this option away from us using the ADF to do so ? I know that the flatbed is only capable of letter size because of it's design. Yes, we can make multiple scans and piece together, but we shouldn't have too. The HP Envy Pro 6455 is a great printer, but it is crazy that scanning legal size documents is not available. Will the developers please take another look at the HP Smart and HP Scan and Capture software ?

Welcome to the HP Community.

If the printer documentation is to believed,

The printer does not support the 8.5 x 14 (Legal size) scan option.

Answer

Any software / application you use cannot supersede the limitations of the device hardware.

I completely understand what is being said and already know that the software can't exceed the hardware. I'm shaming HP for not engineering one of their printers / scanners (HP Envy Pro 6455) with ADF capability for not being able to scan legal size. One of the two most used sizes (Letter and Legal) ever used.  i.e. If you can take a portable ADF scanner (about 4 in wide) and scan in a legal size document, then the HP Envy Pro 6455 could have been designed the same way.
