Hello everyone,

I am having an issue which I saw is common to other users across several years and AFAIKT is still unsolved.

The scanner seems to be unable to capture real raw images.

- Updated to the latest firmware

- tried with HP scan software

- tried with VueScan on windows and linux

- tried with xsane, latest version, on linux

- tried everything above using USB, wireless, and Ethernet

It looks like the firmware is screwing up the images with some kind of jpeg compression and then send the result bitmap as uncompressed data.

There is no control on HP software or 3rd party that can be used to avoid this issue , included in the WIA and TWAIN interfaces.

The artifacts are clearly visible, the scanner is not usable for professional work.

Any suggestion?

Thanks.

You have the wrong product if you are trying to do professional work. These are home level products designed to provide home users with functionality.  Purchasing a 300 all in one and expecting it to perform like a dedicated image scanner is not realistic. It would be like buying a Kia and expecting to be able to race Formula 1 with it. If you are looking for professional image scanning, I suggest that you would be better served to purchase a pro level stand alone scanner.

If you find the information provided useful or solves your problems, help other users find the solution easier by giving kudos and marking my post as an accepted solution.
