Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

hp officejet 6600
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've already opened a thread for that problem, but i can't reply because it's been a long time since I opened it.

From a couple of week i have a problem with my multifunction printer. I have an Officejet 6600, connected with USB cable at my PC with windows 10 64bit.

When i print a page it work correctly, i also can print with airprint. But, if i try to scan, from the directly connected PC or from the HP App on my smartphone it doesn't work. It says scanner busy.

I've tried to restart the printer and the pc, uninstall it completely and than reinstall it, but nothing!

thank you for the reply.

I tried to make a simply copy, but it doesn't work.

I tried the HP Doctor software but it  doesn't find any problem, only "Driver not working". As i said, i also tried to reinstall the software and the driver but nothing change.

The problem come with the latest printer firmware upgrade. Is there a way to rollback ?

@RDLFNC, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I see that you are not able to make a copy/scan. Let us try these steps:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Update the printer firmware

Check the scanner bar functionality

Perform a visual test of the scanner mechanism to see if it is jammed.

  1. Remove any original documents or photos from the scanner glass.
  2. Lift the scanner lid slightly, and then press the Copy button or icon.

If the scanner light does not move or moves halfway or is not lit, the scanner mechanism is likely jammed/broken. In this caseplease reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
