I have NOT found a way to FIX it, I have found a way to work around the issue (for my applications); scan to a USB stick.

So what’s the default preboot password and/or how do you reset it? I noticed that the cmos battery is soldered to the board. Why on earth did they do that? Are we expected to throw it away when a little coin battery does dead?

Hi zcw100 (?),

Let me know if you ever find out what that preboot password is or how to reset it. 😮

"CMOS"/lithium batteries, from a lifetime of use design standpoint, should be screwed down to a board or replaced with another cheap form of non volatile memory (EEPROM, SD Card, etc.) . Older battery backed electronics designed to last less than 10 years will have a battery soldered onto it.

That battery issue. . . that password issue. . . they are probably intentionally planned obsolescence.

I've never seen one of these soldered onto a motherboard and I've had to replace several in various computers. I'll let you know if I ever figure out the password issue. I've seen some people suggest 1234567812345678

Ok, I think I've got it. Try 09850011

Hi Again Zcw100,

Before I give it a go (at least an hours worth of hardware and setting changes need to be made, and the possible complete loss of the system), how/where did you obtain this information?
