I have never had a scanner where I couldn't set the scan folder in settings.  Apparently the older software has this function, but no one can seem to find it in the latest version for this printer/scanner.

Right now the default folder is the Documents folder on the computer.  That folder has dozens of folders and a few dozen files.  I want to send this to a new scan folder or the one I set up for my main Brother printer/scanner.

Scanning issues…  Works on your Brother printer.

Please try this scan solution:

HP Scan Extended

For Windows:   ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Make searchable PDFs scans with this free scanning software - https://www.naps2.com/

Let us know.

That didn't help.  It allows me to set the folder if I use the program and if I set it each time.  When I put a document in the feeder and select scan from the touch screen, then select the comuter, it still goes to the Documents folder.  I need a setting on the printer itself or a program that saves the setting on the machine.  If I'm goint to run a program instead of just saving to my designatied folder, I would use Acrobat to scan.

It's too bad that there seems to be no way to do this.  The solution offered with this software was similar to the other suggestions with other software, but it is not a real solution to the machine software being deficient, or the setup software being deficient.

I also got an error message because the machine sent to the Documents folder and the software I just installed tried to run.  It said the scanner was already in use.

I'll probably have to uninstall and just put up with it.

Fortunately, this is just the home computer for occassional use, where I use my larger and 10 times faster Brother scanner at my office most of the time.  For 2 1/2 times the money and no color, I get 3-5 times the speed with the Brother.

Just set the Save to folder.   Always scan from the computer.

Always scanning from the computer and setting the folder each time just isn't a real solution.  As an example, if I have 6 documents of various sizes, I would put that in the scanner, got back to the computer (remember, this is a network printer, so it is not close to the computer), do the scan by setting the folder, then repeat this 6 times, maybe more if one of them is double sided.

I will have to deal with this issue, but it's easier to have all of the documents go to an inconvenient folder, scan them all while I'm still at the printer, then go to the computer and move the files.  That is the easier solution.  It's not what I expected, but it takes less time.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I'll try to do my scanning at my office.  It is faster, duplex and goes to the designated folder as saved in the system.

I think you should try to setup scan to folder on your computer.I have some instruction on how to do this but it is not HP related documents.I think if we can arrange permission for this document i can send it on the forum.Just don't want to add information that will be illegal on HP behalf.
