HP "Smart" App does not have the function or feature to do double-sided / two-sided scanning of documents (see attached screenshot).
Is the HP Envy Photo 7800 incapable of scanning documents that have print on both sides? I assume I have to be doing something wrong or am failing to enable a setting and not that HP built a printer that only scans of a document?

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Support Community.
Yes, you can scan 2 sided document with the HP Envy Photo 7800 printer. Please install the HP FULL featured software to do this and you will need to manually reinsert the document to scan the 2nd side. The software will automatically rearrange the pages in the right order!
This resource shows you how the scanning is done.
This resource shows you how to download and install the HP FULL featured software.
Get the HP FULL featured software from this URL:
Note that the path to get the HP FULL featured software is go to Software - Utility > HP ENVY Photo 7800 All-in-One Print and Scan Driver and Accessories
Hope that helps!

Downloading the HP FULL software did allow to do manual 2-sided scanning, unfortunately the printer does not appear to be able to scan more than 4-5 pages. I have tried scanning a document now about 8-10 times and each time it gets to the second or forth page it jams and resets. On the HP Full app there is no continue or pause button so it restarts each time. I ultimately gave up and elected to scan the documents with my iPhone and the Adobe Scan app. While it took longer and required more manual intervention, the app and camera were more reliable.
