HP ENVY 4524 All-in-One Printer

Hi,

I can't make my HP Envy 4524 scan multi-page documents from the autofeed tray. The option is greyed out on every device from which I've tried to initiate it using "HP Smart". I can't find any option to change it, nor can I find any other way to make the selection . I've also trawled through all the online help requests that I've been able to find, and the responses either don't resolve my issue, don't apply to the current HP Smart app, or just lead to dead links. I just had to scan a 16 page document one page at a time via the flatbed, which shouldn't be my only option. I see there's been a lot of feedback to HP, and help requests all over multiple support forums, about this same issue for some years now, but I can't find a resolution anywhere. Plus the HP website and help resources are impossibly difficult and frustrating to navigate. If anyone has any advice for me, I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers,

Matt

@md3474,

Thank you for your response, to answer your question, Yes the printer can scan only 1 page via a Flatbed scanner at a time. This is the only scan functionality available in this printer model.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi @md3474,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing a scanning issue with your HP ENVY 4524 All-In-One Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

To assist you better:

  • I would like to know what operating system is running on your device?
  • How is the printer connected to your device?
  • Have you tried to use any other scanning applications?
  • Could you please share a picture of your printer?
  • May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID

While you respond to that, the printer does not have an automatic document feeder as per the specifications;

So please refer to this document to view product specifications.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for the reply. Before I search for the other info requested, can I clarify re your statement that my printer doesn’t have an ADF — I’m probably using the wrong terminology. I thought ADF and the paper tray were the same thing. It’s the paper tray that I can’t feed multiple pages from to scan. Can this model of printer only scan single page at a time via the flatbed? If that’s the only functionality I should have, then I guess my question is answered. Pls confirm.

Many thanks,

Matt
