Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am not able to scan with my Laserjet Pro CM 1415 using the HP Smart App but am able to scan with that printer using the HP Scan program.  I have no problem scanning or printing with my Officejet 9010 on the same network using the Smart App.

Hello @ausualguy ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!

You just need to download this software package: HP LaserJet Pro CM1415 Color Multifunction Printer Full software and Drivers

Then HP software must be completely uninstalled and removed of the system.

  1. Disconnect printer/scanner from computer- Disable WLAN, WiFi and/or remove the USB or LAN cable.- Do not switch off the printer >> unplug the power cord from the socket!
  2. right-click Start, search for "control panel" and open "Programs and Features"
uninstall all HP printer software > via "Programs and Features"
  3. right-click Start, search for "control panel" and open "Devices and Printers"
In the "Devices and Printers" window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  4. Close all programs
  5. search for "HP [printer name]" and delete all this folders
  6. Reconnect the printer to the power supply and switch it on (if this does not happen automatically)
  7. Please note: WLAN has to be deactivated!
  8. Restart the PC
  9. Close all programs
  10. Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads click on the EXE.
  11. The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
  12. Restart the PC again
  13. Now the installation is complete.

Via USB, means wait until the installation asks to connect the printer/scanner.

Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Andreas
