Photosmart premium c410b

Hi, I have a HP Photosmart Premium with Fax C410b.

It has been in a box in my garage for years because I took the ink cartridges out ages ago because they were out of ink and I don't really use the print function.

The next time I needed to scan I couldn't because there were no ink cartridges in it!

I gave up trying and put it in the garage.

I now want to scan a photograph and am trying to give it another go.

Can anybody help me?

When I turn it on I cannot get past the 'Ink Cartridge Problem' error screen. I need to connect the printer to my WiFi and then I simply want to use the scan function.

I'm feeling a bit hard done by to be honest, I spent quite a bit on this thing and I only want to use it as a scanner and feel a bit like I've been robbed!

Does anybody know a way past the ink cartridge error without having to buy new cartridges?

Or does anyone know how I can get hold of old empty cartridges just to satisfy the stupid machine so I can use the scanner?

Thanks

@KrisJ83,

The ink cartridges are used only for printing/copying. You should be able to use the scanning feature on the printer from the software installed on a PC or mobile device provided both the printer and PC are on the same network.

  • What computer do you have, is that a Windows or MAC?
  • Do you have any option to click OK or hide the error on the printer screen?
  • What happens when you push the WiFi icon on the printer? Does it take you to the Wireless Set Up Wizard Screen?

Let's try to connect the printer to the WIFI network first.

Here is how you can connect the printer to a Wireless Network:

Method 1: Running the wireless set up wizard from the printer control panel

  • Write down your network name (SSID) and WEP key or WPA passphrase.
  • Start the Wireless Setup Wizard.
    • a. Press the Wireless button.
    • b. Highlight Wireless Setup Wizard and press OK.
  • The setup wizard searches for available networks and then displays a list of detected network names (SSIDs).
  • Highlight your network name and press OK.
  • Finish setting up the HP Photosmart Finish setting up the HP Photosmart
  • Follow the prompts on display to complete the connection.

Method 2: Using a USB cable

Once the printer is connected to the WiFi Network, you can launch the printer driver installed from your PC and you should be able to scan documents.

Another way to scan is by using an application called HP Smart available for Windows, MAC, iOS, and Android.

Once the printer is on the network, download this app from your PC/mobile device to use the scanning feature.

HP Smart App for Windows.

HP Smart App for MAC.

HP Smart App for iOS/Android.
